430 stainless steel is a ferritic stainless steel, primarily composed of iron, chromium (approximately 17-18%), and small amounts of nickel, silicon, and carbon. The "430" in its name refers to its main chemical composition, namely 17% chromium and 0.12% carbon.This type of stainless steel typically contains lower nickel content, usually between 4-6%.
430 stainless steel is a general steel type with good corrosion resistance. It has better thermal conductivity than austenite, smaller thermal expansion coefficient than austenite, and is resistant to thermal fatigue. Titanium is added as a stabilizing element. The formed chromium oxide layer has high stability and is not easily destroyed, effectively resisting the erosion of oxygen, water, and other oxidizing agents. 430 stainless steel can effectively resist oxidation corrosion and surface rusting.
430 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, but in some specific environments, such as high-temperature chloride environments or during welding processes, intergranular corrosion may occur, leading to damage to the material's grain boundaries, reducing its corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties.
