Stainless steel coils are primarily used in the construction and industrial industries. An iron-based alloy, stainless steel comprises 11% of chromium, along with traces of nitrogen, aluminum, sulfur, silicon, titanium, nickel, copper, and selenium. It is rust and heat resistant. There are various stainless steel grades determined by different quantities of chromium or nickel. Initially produced as stainless steel slabs, these slabs are converted into stainless steel coils using a range of manufacturing techniques.
As discussed above, steel coils are made by winding or coiling a steel strip or sheet under very high temperatures. Depending on the production method, we can classify steel coils into four main types:
